Mt. Graham, Arizona
September 17, 2005

Bonnie and I are members of the Old Pueblo Miata Club, located here in Tucson.  This is an unusual automobile club in that the emphasis is on get-togethers and travel, rather than maintaining and improving our Miata sports cars.  Because of this, there are about as many women as men members.  If you'd like to learn more about the OPMC, click on either of the two preceding links or on the following club graphic.

Mt. Graham is located about 62 miles northeast of our Tucson home.  But since there's no such thing as a straight road when sightseeing, we ended up putting 280 miles on the car that day!  Click here if you'd like to learn more about this interesting mountain and the surrounding terrain.

There were a total of 8 Miata's on the Mt. Graham "drive out".  Depending on the time of the day and the elevation, the temperature ranged from 75F to 95F degrees, which meant that it was very comfortable the entire day.  The following are 36 of the best of the 103 pictures that were taken by Bonnie and I . . . enjoy!

This was the only part of the 25-mile road that was straight.  The rest was all "S" curves with dangerous drop-offs along the shoulders.

At 9,100 feet, we're at a "pull out" waiting for the more cautious drivers before going to last 1/2 mile to the picnic area.

My car ran rough at this 9,100 feet ~ it looks like I wasn't the only one having problems!

Pretty countryside ~ sometimes in Arizona it's difficult to realize that you're surrounded by desert!

On the way back down the mountain, we went without the group so that we could stop at our leisure and take pictures.
