Naples ~ Sorrento ~ Pompeii
September 30, 2017

At Naples, we took a bus tour of Sorrento and Pompeii.  Out of all the locations we visited on our trip, Pompeii was the highlight of our vacation!  The eruption of Mount Vesuvius killed all those living in Pompeii at the time.  Although lava did not reach the city, volcanic ash fell as high as 82', and according to our guide the temperature reached 300o C.  We were also told that about 1/3 of the city was still being uncovered from under lava ash.

Do you see the boat at the center-right of the picture?

This is it.  We were going to ask what a boat like this would cost, but were sure that we'd simply be told, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it"!  :)

We think this is a hotel on the cliff.  This would definitely be an interesting place to stay!

Narrow streets, just like every other city we've seen on out trip.

2-wheeled transportation is very popular, not just here but at every city we visited!
